Several years ago, a number of us had the opportunity to work on the Deltek GovWin network, which was an online community for government contractors.
Billed as an “essential source for information, teaming and software solutions,” GovWin was designed to help businesses “find, manage and win government business.”
At its peak, we had more 30,000 members, and several thousand companies, including many of the top 100 government contractors.
Over 80% of our core membership was comprised of small to mid-sized businesses, many of whom had never won a government contract before, but wanted and needed information on what it took to be a government contractor, as well as general business operations information.
When Deltek went through a series of changes, the community many of us knew as GovWin.com disappeared. The one place people could come to online for a wide mix of information solutions, market intelligence, consulting options, sales and marketing tools, teaming opportunities, and educational and networking events went away.
It is hard to believe that over 5 years have gone by, but in all that time – there has not been an adequate replacement on the Internet where people could get a total view into news, events, opinions, profiles, online learning, and more relating to the B2G industry.
Announcing GovernmentContractors.co
In an effort to recreate that community, several of us have joined together to start building GovernmentContractors.co.
This new site will be more agnostic than the previous GovWin portal, since we are not a subsidiary of a large parent company with software solutions, like Deltek.
Our goal is to be more open to platforms, information, opinions, and people, and to act as more of a media and education portal when we launch in April of 2018.
While GovernmentContractors.co will offer online courses through partners, and provide some marketing services through Social Web Tactics, we are not seeking to create a gated or exclusive community where other providers are not welcome or will not receive equal billing. In fact, we believe that in order for this site to be effective – we must be as inclusive as possible to all companies, organizations, and people as possible. The idea is simple: a rising tide lifts all boats.
Partnership and Contribution Opportunities
We are now actively seeking partners and contributors for GovernmentContractors.co.
For example, if you are interested in writing, sharing events (including corporate webinars), white papers, and other resources, providing marketing intelligence (federal, state, and local), proposal services, sales consulting, podcasts, courses (online, classroom, and training), and more, please let us know.
